For those who notice.

Handcrafted sculptural lighting and objects, made in Mumbai.

Niwa Terra creates handcrafted sculptural lighting and objects in glass, ceramic, and metal. Every piece begins with something observed in the world and is made in a limited edition.

Objects of light.

Made slowly.

An object begins before a sketch.

Underwater Forms
Quiet Light

Glass holds and changes light differently through the day. Morning, afternoon and evening can make the same object feel like three different objects.

Earth & Stone

The form begins with something observed in the world. A shape, a shadow, a line — something noticed in a particular place or hour.

Botanical Echoes

Every mark you see was left by a person. Some are softened. Some are kept. The mark is evidence that the object was made, not reproduced.

No two surfaces are identical. What you see is the record of a hand, a temperature, and a specific moment in the making.

Look Closer

Made by hand.

Heat leaves its trace.
Breath gives glass its form.
The hand leaves its mark.

We make our own glass from raw materials,
working with glassblowers who melt and shape each piece by hand.

Each piece carries something of that process within it -
made slowly, shaped by hand, never quite the same twice.

Some objects fill a space.

Some change how a space feels.

Sometimes, a piece just needs a little becoming.

Choose a different colour or scale the piece to suit its surroundings, where the material and form allow.
